I used really good auto paint on my gator trailer but the dilly trailer I have I used rustoleum from the gallon can it has held up pretty well for 5 or 6 years and the hustler trailer I did is rattle can all the way but I'm like John do it right the first time
The air bouy trailer will be auto paint then I have a trailer for the 56 rocket to do to me the trailers are as much fun to restore as the boats are

Thanks Larry and Marc.
Being self employed I am all about buying local as often as possible but these both look like really good options.

Tractor Supply paint lacks UV blockers and generally has low quality pigments so it fades really fast. Red goes chalky in a year outside not sure of yellow.

I got some low sheen black to use on my '47 Chevy from this guy, has held up Ok so far

John,

You could try here.

My go to guy that is helping me learn how to paint recommended this place for good auto paint at a good price. Never used them before, but I would trust the source.

Good luck have fun

Good to know Mark. I’ll probably use acrylic enamel on this one. Thanks

JR, I just finished a Cub in that paint. The Cub dealer was out of paint. TS started making some Cub colors. So I bought a quart. Thinned it with Enamel thiner. Shot it with HLVP.. It shoots ok but does not cover like the Cub paint. Nor does it have near the sheen when dry or the durability. I would not use it for a "GOOD" project,,but would be OK for most trailers. Rustoleum is better but takes forever to dry. I'll use a good Automotive Acrylic/Enamel next time. I never shot urethane on the boats.

Thanks Chip. I have restored a half dozen of the Gator and Tee Nee trailers. I have always used high quality urethane automotive paint and primer. The "rattle can" paint does not hold up or have nearly the corrosion resistance of automotive paints. I have no problem using (and have used) Rustoleum on minor suspension parts. After sandblasting ($300-$400) this A frame Tee Nee I want to make sure the paint will last. I learned a long time ago from the vintage car world....do it once and do it right.

Buzzerbait aka Michael and others have recommended a rattle can paint from Home Depot and others, Rustoleum? most economical In a particular yellow color. There is also,a,dedicated Tee Nee Facebook site where you can ask. And Charlie aka Boat crazy restored a neighbors Tee Nee including paint that I since purchased, and then sold to Keith and Connie of Chatanooga fame, who can maybe offer some suggestions...c

Has anyone here tried this paint. My sandblaster friend says he has had good luck with it. I was considering using it on my current Tee Nee project. would use the catalyst and reducer as well. The auto paints I have used in the past have gotten so expensive its hard to justify using them on a trailer. Thanks
