I might etch a pair and paint fill them just to see what they look like done that way.

There's not any depth to the text on the originals, so I'm thinking they were painted. My friend's CO2 laser could replicate the look, but I don't think it can do black and white together like on the flags. I really think this might be best done with a decal...

While the '57 Rocket looks to use the late feather style, the '56 Golden Rocket has the unique Rocket plate. These are heavier gauge aluminum with text and flags that appear to be painted on rather than etched. I could do these using my method and filling the etched area with paint, but it might be more authentic done with a decal, black with white behind the flags:

Thanks go to Buzzerbaits and Niveen for getting a scan of his original to me so I could draw this one up.

I'd be surprised if they went to the expense of making 2 different sizes.
If you get me the distance between the mounting holes I'll superimpose them on a scale sample and you can decide. In any case, scaling them up or down a bit is not a big deal.

I cannot wait to get my switch plate mounted...

Thanks Steve, but you need to take some of the credit too. I imagine that some of us (...OK, me) might not have tried to do any of this stuff without this site and the inspiration of other member's work.
