here is a pic of her transom with the new lettering the guy messed up and put a copper based paint on the bottom so he has been sanding it off

Have completed the next phase. She's been painted inside and out, trailer painted. Next step, teak floor and dash

If you are painting an aluminum boat it is just like a car. Etching(wash primer) then Epoxy primer then any body filler ( only use the good stuff) on top of the epoxy primer. ,then sanding primer and paint. I would not use any filler directly on the aluminum. I would not have a problem with doing that on a motor. The fillers are designed to adhere to the primer.

I had a guy who has and restored Merc's tell me that a great trick for small dents is to use JB Weld as filler. It will bond to the aluminum better than body filler like Bondo, is workable, stronger and paintable.

Haven't tried it as of yet, but fully intend to whe I restore my KF7. It has a couple dings.

Thanks on my el dorado I think they used bondo it actually looked to be pretty durable

the only thing I know is at this point of the process there are three coats of some type of etching primer I don't know what type of filler if used I will try and find out
