Today was beautiful and I took full advantage of it. Made the back plate for the flush patch . Made the flush patch. Started making the keel. Spent a little time on the pounding stump and English wheel. It's going to take a little time developing the transition area of the keel. The aluminum work hardens pretty easily. I used a hole finder for the blind holes. Here is a vid to show the use of a hole finder.

No it will not John. It incurs a little bit of a process involving sheetmetal processes . Not uncommon to those in the industry. I showed an opaque underlayment of the process. Wait and see. It's not easy to portray.

With regard to those two large patches, won't water get trapped between the patch and the original hull causing further corrosion?

The front seat support is done. It was a mess. Never was built to sit in. All beefed up now.

Today Teonia and I smoothed out the damaged area with a hammer and dolly . She prefers being the hammer man. Hmmm... :? After working the hull back to the original shape, I cut out the damaged are, Made a template out of Plexiglas then used the templates to cut out new flush patches and the one of two scab patches to go over the entire damaged area. The will be identical on both sides. If done properly ,,the only way you should know it was not an original hull design,,may be the rivet layout and heads. I don't have anyone to help me shoot the rivets and will teach Teonia to use the bucking bar. The bad thing is,,this is not in a comfortable place to buck rivets. Not for a beginner. The hull is very thin unlike the 58 Vagabond it is only .030 . So very nice to work with. This was designed as a limited use racing hull. We are very fortunate it has survived at all . Look at the meteor....bad news there. By the way,,,day 24 as the crow flies . More like day 8 on the boat. Damn,,too much going on .

He better put that boat in the water ! I know whats wrong. The friggin KG9 doesn't run !
Today I worked on the port side dock rash. It was bad. Looks better now. The corrosion on the bow strap was so bad it had to be removed. I drilled it out and cut it off at 14 ". Sand blasted and Mig welded up the voids. No it wasn't that simple. Took about two hrs of welding and grinding.

You're really moving out on that boat. I saw Roger and his brothers at the boat show today, he had his '48 Vagabond and I tried to get him to launch it. Hopefully he'll be back tomorrow and put it in the lake.
