Day 1 1947 Vagabond 29 Nov 2012 18:14 #12898

FD-11 Troy. Made the 4 transom patches today. The original sheetmetal will be sandwiched between two pieces of 1/8 " 2024T3 . The transom will be 3/8 " thick. That should take any period motor ! Lay-up today and trim. Zinc Chromate tomorrow and rivets on Saturday. That will be the end of the big jobs.

Howdy 'Eagle,'

Is that a 'Javelin' motor hood under the tarp?

Sincerely,

Troy

Took me about 5 hrs today to finish marking, drilling and attaching the keel pieces. I had to use blind fasteners as there was no way to use a bucking bar, nor did I have anyone to hold one. When Brendon [My Son] was down for the weekend and helped me shoot the stringers,, I told him, since you moved away,I have nobody to help me. He told me, Dad I'm in the same boat, since your not around.

My son Brendon came down for Thanksgiving. He stayed today to tackle the cracked Stringers on the Naboo ! We drilled and shot over 150 rivets to make the repair. In the end we were shooting a rivet every 5 seconds. It's just practice !
