Hey Mark,

I know the rear seat back was on the 47 when you got it from the earlier photos of it in your thread, I asume it looks to be original equipment? Do you have any other photos that might show details such as the stops and the hinges?

I read Marks thread back when i first signed up....3 1/2 yrs ago....today i reread it all again......the inspiration i felt back then was refelt again today.........only difference this time was i now have faces to put too most the names who joined in.....( commerodity was alive).......what a gang......makes me want too drop what i am doing right now and pull the DR in.....Mark, thank-you....next reread will be Ray's Flyer (1950 Flyer) rebuild....I thank-you both, Oscar would not be here today not bin for both your guys inspiration and advise.........
Ray noted, all new comers should read this, i believe along with Rays thread as well.....this is the real stuff that puts these boats back from being scrapped too being restored........sweat, elbow grease, and engine-uity .............cheers my friends.......all new comers and old, dont let these two threads pass you by........:arrr:

Looking at the numbers made me have to see the boats ugly handles which were obviously not put there by the manufacturer. I wouldn't mind having a look at what the stock handles looked like. Maybe something can be done.

I don't want to clog up Marks thread but I would like to see photos, have you posted any photos anywhere on the forum?

Day 1 1947 Vagabond 05 Dec 2018 12:52 #91720

This thread makes me appreciate my own Vagabond which is a year younger. The guy who restored and sold it to me gave me a photo.of what the boat looked like when he found it. It wasn't much different than Mark's. It almost makes me feel guilty to be enjoying his work given how little he was paid for his effort. It's a good thing that there are guys like Mark around willing to devote their time and their talent to bringing these boats back to life. It allows lazy slugs like myself to have something they couldn't have produced for themselves or could not have afforded to buy if the compensation for doing the work wasn't, as Mark once noted, ten cents an hour.
