107- 376786 Exhaust tube loading assembly
There is two circle imprints in cast aluminum that appear to have option of having tubes but there isn’t any… (still not sure what it’s for??) I raised all these concerns months ago and we couldn’t figure it out. I can’t find used one or ever seen one. John you had said you might get into yours one day to figure out where all the blow by was coming from under powerhead and had said you’d look at yours.. I know you’ve been busy with motorbikes but have you been under powerhead of lark yet? here’s what I have found. Made because by the time I get part it’s 50$ at least months later not sure if Alan knows? Or any other 30hp 56’ lark owners have been under their powerheads to see? I’d love to know more. My baffle plate was quite damaged is it possible it was because plate was missing? lots of questions here 1957 Ranger IV, 1956 Evinrude 30HP

If you compare part number in manual to actual part it’s exactly a flat plate when I search online but in manual it does show tubes attached to plate.. confusing
You and I went through this months ago I’ll see if I can find in thread and repost. And get you numbers and pic of exhaust loading tube assembly “plate” you’ve got me questioning it a little now but 99% the part number in manual you/I use is just a flat plate. thx for chiming in before I reassemble 1957 Ranger IV, 1956 Evinrude 30HP

According to the parts manual that hole is for an exhaust loading tube assembly. A flat cover like you made is not correct for your motor.

Boats been neglected can’t hide that.. but got to pulling powerhead to make/install exhaust tube assembly plate(which doesn’t seem known what it’s purpose is?) I figure if motor came with it I’d try put one in place. Turned out to be more of a pain than expected with all the curves and little mounting surface. And of course one of the 10-24 thread holes having a broken bolt down in hole that added some extra fun as well.
Heli-coiled a stripped 5/16” hole in powerhead mount also. Both including exhaust baffle plate that’s torn have been eating me away so finally started repairs trying to find the time. I posted a bunch on this exhaust tube assembly plate in thread, sure like to know its purpose. Maybe to separate exhaust from motor and water circulation exhaust from each other? Anyways here’s the basic cover that took more time than the parts worth ha! 1957 Ranger IV, 1956 Evinrude 30HP

Rod holder to add to boat, not matching paint but should serve the purpose intended.

"...thinking I should tie a tether to it.." sounds like a good idea. Also, those smooth flat steps might get very slippery when wet -- walk carefully!

The rod holder that I saw in the picture is a good one. Used that style for many years
