Some earlier steering handles had the detent on the back side. Boatboy's picture has the detent on the front side. I can't tell how yours is made from the pictures with the bracket on. So check it Curtis.

This is the correct way to attach your steering cable bracket to the motor steering bracket.

Not upside down but backwards. I believe the pin should come through from the back of the steering bracket on the motor. This allows the pin to lock into position keeping it from coming out while under way. It's a safety issue.

I think it’s upside down now that I look closer grr I had wondered why my motor pulleys weren’t horizontal rather like they are.. is this going to be a huge deal temporarily? I’ve got SS eye bolts ordered for draw bar springs supposed to be in Friday so have swap steel ones out this weekend. Possibly there maybe a little to much torque on Center pin if anything? Good catch!!

John can you elaborate? the main bracket at motor is upside down? Or you just f@ck!n with me here?
im fixing trailer rollers that are screwing with me tonight still behind schedule due to truck issues today so no water today maybe tomorrow unless I have steering to fix? 1957 Ranger IV

Looking at your pictures I noticed that the cable steering bracket on your motor appears to be installed backwards. John
