You'll be glad to know you were right... 13 May 2021 03:34 #111641

My Clipper has a heavily modified transom, and it bugs me, but is more than I want to tackle at present. Hopefully it will hold up, and the new e tec won't end up at the bottom of Watts Bar Lake next week!

The old lag & slab transom on my Clipper must have been done by the same craftsman... to remove the old, crusty Liquid Nails adhesive, I found that soaking with copious quantities of vaseline, then using a little heat and plastic scrapers got it back to fresh metal without gouging or even affecting the anodizing.

I was wondering about how they got rid of the 'barrel back' on that boat.

Right? Someone went to a HUGE amount of effort for no discernable gain either.

Rick is right. We have a '54 Vagabond, barrel intact boaty boat. It's still in progress. Paul is about to start working on the steering and control cables. Hadn't meant to sell the Runabout until the Vagabond was seaworthy, but someone popped up, and, well, they are a bit of a specialty-use item, so we'll see if she goes in the next week. If not, we'll ride her around a bit longer.

Will you be getting another one or is the whole Feathercraft scene going to be in your rearview mirror soon?

The weird little square backed boat I picked up almost a year ago in Alabama? Deluxe Runabout.Paul was taking the in-absolutely-terrible-shape-my-god-is-that-a-lag-bolt-did-a-boat-yard-actually-do-this-work? transom off. And the original back is still in there. Also - lovely glue job, fellas. There is a hefty piece of aluminum on the back obscuring where the serial numbers are - I doubt I'll be able to lay eyes on it though. We doing some minor fix up jobs as a friend is going to be (hopefully) buying the boat.
