When you’re checking motor height make sure you have it trimmed so that the cavitation plate is parallel to the bottom, a little angle change makes a surprising difference in where the plate is relative to the bottom.

What does the keel look like on this hull?

Still to low., but I don't think that has anything to do with the boat drifting. Drifting is fun, its like boating on ice :P

Boatboy is right, the cavitation plate needs to be flush to the bottom of the boat.

super agree here, almost looks like a long shaft motor on a short transom

The square hard chines on that boat will not allow it to roll up on it's side in a turn like a round chine boat like the Vagabonds or Runabouts.
Adjusting the motor trim angle down may help the sliding some and is worth a try but it may also reduce the top speed of the boat.
The hard chine design was intended as a hull that would plane with the least amount of horse power, excess speed in the turns was not expected to be an issue ;-)

Question for the group.

The back end of this boat is flat except for the keel. At speed, this thing wants to drift instead of cut into the turn. Scarry. Is this to be expected?
