Used a step bit I borrowed from my son, deburred nicely, a little adhesive sealant and results look professional.

I used the ball on my trailer hitch to flare a brass drain plug once.

I just checked it out on the internet. The drain fitting kit can be had for $7.92 and the flanging tool was $28.97. Not sure about shipping costs.

Maybe I’ll work something out with one of you on that side of the line.

We have ways around that sort of thing... ;)

I’d prefer aluminum. But like I said no one here seemed to have them. I’m in Canada. It’s not getting done until spring so maybe I’ll find one of aluminum before then. Ordering and delivery across the border is a bit of a pain these days and often ends up costing so much more it’s crazy.

Don't use brass. The correct items to use are: Aluminum drain fitting kit #020848-001 and Flanging tool #020720-00.

I know the 2 metals aren’t friends, I just couldn’t find aluminum anywhere here. Also my boat is coated (primed with 3 coats of interprotect 2000 both sides) so no metal to metal contact will actually happen. But thanks for the warning anyway.
It’s my only painted aluminum boat but I’m liking the way it is going so far.

I found the 1” brass tube easy enough but no one had any idea about the tool to make the crimped flange on the other end.
Thank you for posting this. Now I know how it’s done , just need to make or find the tool now.
Please let me know or post after on how yours goes.

I do not think brass and aluminum get along with each other.

I have the aluminum kit and the tool just wondering if there are any issues. If I'm successful I will be happy to loan out the tool.
