I just started round two of my restoration, now working on the Cosmetics of the outboard. Here's a few pics that I took this morning tearing apart my Merc.

I am going to do some preventative maintenance to the power head after I paint the outboard.

Everything is all striped off and ready to be degreesed before going into the blast cabinet.

I just re-did all the seals in the lower unit 3 months ago. So I am going to try to do this with the gear housing still intaked.

I used the ReproTint rattle cans for my 25 Johnson cover, two toned, turned out pretty good for my first attempt... See my avatar..

I had a question about paints.I have never painted with a gun before. I plan on ordering my paint for my Merc from nymarine. Is this a good source?

Does anyone have a preference on acrylic enamel vs. Urethane enamel? Not sure if there is a big difference.

Thanks,
Marc

Hey Moe, Joe Poole ordered it for me from one of his suppliers. You probably could make something like it. I had know idea how Merc muffs looked, and I am happy I bought it..

Neil I finally got my muffs in. This gets clamped to the underside of the cavitation plate where my intake is.. No more bucket cruising for me.

Also I read you had a tip to jack up your trailer in the winter months, this should help out my new tires too.

Harbor freight just opened a store near me. I avoid going there for tools but these stands are Perfect.
