Well, I don't think the galvanizing will matter as I put power to it a moment ago and it went pop. Just a small pop, but I'm guessing I shorted something. Maybe I'll take it back apart.

it's not galvanized... I just got a plain steel bolt. And that's the end that will be encapsulated inside the bracket.

You could try a piece of all tread put a nut on the end of it and Brad the end so the nut won't back off

We went out to Lowes anyway... they were only $ .44 each. But of course, they are too long, and the threads are too short. Either washers, or cut the bolts and threads down a bit.

will they hold for now just to test it.............save ya from buying bolts if ya dont need them...........

Got it back together this afternoon. Going out tonight to see if i can get some replacement bolts as the originals are almost rusted through.

Finally got the last bit off the starter. The top plate was corroded onto the shaft. Polished the shaft and bushing up and it spins freely now. Tomorrow I might put everything back together and see if it spins up with current. Only problem is I bent the top plate a little and it won't drop into place in the housing. Need to work it back to flat.
