As I understand it, with use, the trailer hub will heat up and expand. Without the bearing buddy when you back the trailer into the water, it will cool down and possibly draw water into the hub. With the bearing buddy, it holds a reservoir of grease to be drawn into the hub instead of the water

They keep the grease cavity pressurized so water can't get in. I use them on all my trailers and have never had a bearing issue.

i am under the impression that if you have bad spindle seals, its a conveinient/helpful way too keep your grease topped up........i have also heard horror stories where they can be overloaded and blow out perfectly good seals as well.........
sorry if i am drifting on your thread Charlie.........Cheers, hope too see ya in Canada one day soon..........

Bearing Buddies allow people who defer maintenance feel comfortable about doing so :hand: I run them on everything, I'm into comfort

Looking great Charlie and as long as you don't try to pull it to Canada you don't need the Bearing Buddies anyway!

Yeah i got a new set to have Ray cut them down but after looking at them close there is no way they can be made to fit under the cap so i had to use the dust caps it's all good I can clean and repack the bearings in the fall every year
