Trim Gauge for Tohatsu?? 01 Mar 2024 02:21 #128197

I second what vintin and bigbadjonnyboy said. If your wanting to fill a hole or drill a hole do it for a tach, hands down you will be using the tach All the time.

It's always the sweet spot one recognizes in most things in life.  No need to let dials tell you that.

Trim Gauge for Tohatsu?? 08 Feb 2024 00:19 #128017

I've got a trim gauge for my 2003 40hp Tohatsu. The range on the scale where I find optimum trim is a small fraction of the scale making it useless. Sure you can see the difference between up and down but the important usable planing range is so small a part of the scale that going by ear and feel is way better. For instance I can't set optimum trim from the gauge.

I hope that helps.

From this Faria troubleshooting doc it sounds like you need the Honda type.

I drew a line on the clamp so I could see how it is tilted. It doesn't work too good because I have to turn around and look at it while going down the lake.

Has anyone installed a Faria trim gauge on their Tohatsu? They don't list one specific for Tohatsu. The Faria tech has told me if it is volts signal the Honda style will work. If it's ohms the Mercury will work. Haven't check mine yet.
