To close this up I have found a nearly new 1969 Merc 110 9.8hp. This is a one family owned motor that has only been used 4 times in the last 40 years.  Its not electric start but is short shaft.  Already pulled the whale tail and Joe Poole is checking his inventory for parts to convert to remote control.



 

Looking for a 10-15 hp short shaft for my 52 DR.  Intent is to use only on small state managed lakes that are part of state parks that we have been doing a bit of camping at lately with the scouts.  These all have a 10hp limit and I'm sure a few stickers/emblems could make a 15 look like a 10 but my giant 40hp Gale is not going to fool anyone.  Remote steer or including parts to convert, electric start is a must.  Vintage Ok, modern Ok, just looking for reliable so I don't get out there and have to paddle back to camp with scouts.
