All the painted parts have been sandblasted. Doing a little prep work before laying down some paint. I love working with this fairing compound.

Yeah, no way any 2 cylinder can be expected to keep up with those high performance 4 & 6 cylinder jobs.

Rob, Thanks for the kind words and trusting in me.
It's my pleasure to bring this beautiful motor back to life, Certainly deserves it. Jabe, same to you. Thanks for all the encouragement over the last couple years. Also Jabe thanks for keeping it simple... Rob and I will always get a chance to stop and have a beer as you bring up the rear. ![]() Click the link below for information on vintage Mercury restorations

I decided to go to the Dark Side 50% of the time. I love the set up of my Vag and Evinrude and feel it is an excellent example of that combination. When Carey and I bought the Hawk II we decided to try to make it another great combination with a Merc on it. No one better than Marc to give this motor the attention it deserves.
The lower unit is from one of the Mercs I sold to Marc a year or two ago. They came from Damon in Texas to my place in Florida then Louisiana and Arrowhead in Tennessee to Marc. To complete my de-programming and re-programming I just completed reading "Iron Fist" It makes me appreciate these motors even more. I'm really looking forward to watching Marc's transformation of the 500.

Love your work and thoroughness, have to admit I am still a huge fan of just a couple big pistons putting out compared to a bunch of little ones trying to do the same, looky me go, I am still running around with an inline 6 rather than a v8 in my trucks, just an old school guy that loves the stump pulling power of simplicity, cheers my friend, your work restoring will bring many hrs of pleasure for those on the dark side, lol
