any good machine shop should be able to repair the keyway and repair the threads if you cant get a replacement
i know i have had a lot of obsolete parts presumed junk repair to good as new and returned to service
I will keep researching and see what I can figure out. Also, thanks (OldLure) for the possible lead on a crank. If I don’t come up with an answer, something, local, or other resolution, I may be looking for one. Thanks again.
Hoping someone here knows if the crankshafts used in the 1957 Johnson 35hp and 1959 Evinrude 35 are interchangeable? The reason for asking is that, I just bought a 57 Johnson Javelin that has a bad keyway in the crankshaft and bad threads as well. I have a 1959 that I assume has a good crank but, I have not disassembled to verify. Wanting to know if they are the same before taking it apart. I do not have a lot of part number information but what I have found shows different part numbers for each crank. Not sure if they are physically different or just a part number change. Thanks in advance for any help.
