TOPIC: What’s this

I couldn't agree more.
Ironic that a thread started about this topic. I'd never seen one before noticing the one that was mounted on the Evinrude 35 I bought last month. I thought it was a cool idea and am bummed that it doesn't fit my 48 SPL. :(

Maybe not the best item for pulling a skier but great for towing a broken down boat.

No way would I want a skier off to the side pulling on a motor attached to the transom by two hand tightened screws.

That plus the facts that the product is no longer found and outboard motors don't come with a 'towing' eye cast in the mid section.

Neat item though!

I thought the same thing, our family had a Vagabond when I was growing up and as my brother and I got to be teenagers and were skiing on one ski we could pull it around pretty easily with the rope attached to the transom. My Dad did not put up with much of that, you would get whipped around and then he would cut back and hand you a whole bunch of slack rope to deal with

I agree this is probably not the best design but, obviously a good conversation piece.

Iwangstad posted ad mentions "rubber-lined".
Mine may not be original, looks like a piece of tire inner tube.

Glad you posted this picture. It shows the rubber still intact inside the bracket. I assumed it would have something to keep it tight around the motor. Mine is gone and just aluminum on aluminum.

And here is mine. Picked it up from Sarge at the last AH
Fits my '57 Johnson 35hp. Has worn spot from tilt linkage. Only marking is "55".
