The lens is loose and it has dirt inside, I'm not sure if the face will clean up or not and I don't know for sure how well it works, is there a gasket on the lens?

Thanks Ray, I got enamored of these a couple years ago and bought one from Mike. Since then, I pick up ratty ones when they're cheap enough, and make the reproduction faces, pins and lenses. Cobbled up a test rig to calibrate them. I've got a few of them ready to go up on Ebay when I get the chance.

The red 50 MPH one is probably going on my Vagabond, (...for the same reason my truck speedometer goes up to 140), but the rest of this stuff will be sold.

Hey Rick, I have a speedometer that needs some TLC, can I send it to you?

I have seen both these gauges pegged, replaced the tach with an 8K, now the speedo

How much are you selling the 35's for, and can you do one of those in red?

Not that there's anything wrong with it. :)
Personally, If I ever install a speedometer, I want one that maxes out around 30 so I can strive to peg it. :)

I am right there with you, I have been looking at changing out my speedo to one that maxes out at 30mph or 35mph.

I hit 28mph on the Niagara River last summer. It would be cool to see it almost pegged out...

Well, they are brand new ... :) They're new aluminum discs with 2 layers (...colors) of paint. I give the painted discs and the artwork to a friend at work and he etches them. The laser is calibrated to just burn through the top layer, exposing the white. Check out this post .

The only difference is that now I turn the little pins that the needle rests on, where before, I was mounting the replica face over the original, with the pin protruding through a hole. It's kind of a PIA to make them on my 9" South Bend lathe since they're so tiny, but it looks a lot better.
