Picked mine up for $300 cdn. That's like a FULL bag of empties in the states! To be honest, if it was worth 20k finished I'd still keep it. Just 'restored' my old dodge and I wouldn't sell it for any amount either.

Your right about that. If someone really wants a Vagabond or Ranger with a four stroke, they may be willing to pay the premium price being asked for the one being sold in Sarasota because they rarely come up for sale. The restoration on that looks decent but not good enough to justify the asking price.
The value of that boat is in the 4 stroke motor. Maybe I was looking in the wrong places but I was not able to find a 4 stroke 25hp. short shaft for 2k. I couldn't find a late model two-stroke that looked like it was worth buying for that price either. Used four stroke 25 -30 hp short shafts with remote steering seem to about as common as unicorns. If I'd have found one, I wouldn't have sold my '48 Vagabond. A new one installed is going to run close to 5k installed. Phillip was just quoted $5,400 for a Yamaha. I was quoted a ridiculous 7k for a Honda. I don't disagree that that Ranger seems overpriced but how many complete Vagabonds or Rangers have you seen with four strokes for sale? If you know of any, I'd love to hear about them.
