Thx syd much appreciated !! I had to do this last summer mark as well I couldn’t keep the boat from banging around on shore or when I pulled bow onto beach the waves were filling boat. So it slept 20’ of shore for night with lights on.

Not an anchor situation, but there's a bunch of times throughout the summer where I can't pull my Whaler on the beach because of the wind and waves will swamp my boat in a matter of minutes... So most of the time I throw a bow anchor and watch the boat roll over the waves twenty feet off the beach.
That was another reason I went modern with PTT. Often, I have to hurry up pull the anchor and jump on the boat start and go before the wind and waves push me back into the beach.

Great explanation Syd, I can see any of those situations putting a low freeboard boat like the Feather Crafts in a swamped condition.

There are a couple of safety reasons why you should not anchor from the stern
t
The first reason is that by doing so you are now exposing the stern of the vessel to any wind and waves that may be out there.  This puts tension on the anchor line and your vessel and causes the stern to get pulled down by the anchor line.  as this force increases it pulls the boat down deeper and can let water to start lapping over the transom and if it goes Unnoticed eventually it led to swamping

the second reason is that when retrieving the anchor on smaller boats the stern corners are the easiest spot to cause the boat to go under water.  You have your weight and the weight of the anchor and maybe extra force from trying to dislodge an anchor that is stuck.  Also maybe the weight of motor, fuel, and battery added to that then the next thing you know is you just put the stern under water and swamped or flipped the boat

I’m sure not last but another reason is if there is a motor back there, the line could get tangled in the prop then when you lean out to clear it you could put the boat under or even end up falling out of the boat

Hope that this helps explain things.
yes this stuff does and will continue to happen. I’m just trying to help keep everyone out there a little bit safer
thanks for reading.  Syd

Makes a good place to secure a safety chain but you should never anchor by the stern

I am sure they can be used in different configurations  but the way the sample came to me was that the 4 holes on the larger handle matched the small plate
So I would say that the large handle is mounted on the outside of the transom and the small bracket mounts on the inside of the transom as a backing plate
I have them as they where cast with no holes so that you can match holes on your transom or bow but have drilled matching holes and tapped the inner plate 1/4 -20 so no nuts are required on the inner plate for a additional cost
I had not seen this style and ask why the inner plate with the eye hole and was told it works for a anchor line

The small ones look like transom tie downs. The handle looks like it would be for a bow handle. I like how it has the hole in the front good place for your bow line, if used as a bow handle.
