Good point.  I might switch to that if this doesn't work out well with what I have. I've settled on a 12 foot steering cable as being what I'll try first.

I assume you are trying to use a push pull type steering.
You may not get a response here if no one has the experience of installing one on a Rocket.
The problem of getting the push pull type system to work on the barrel back style boats without butchering the look of the tumble home leads almost everyone to use the original type of cable and pulley system which works really well if installed correctly and is very reliable and low maintenance.   

I have a 10 foot screw type steering cable which doesn't seem to fit.  What size would be appropriate?  12...  15?  I suppose I could just make any of the longer ones fit, but what works best?
