Mice can kill a boat too; this is the transom from a 1948 Meteor. :-(
It was everywhere that they could get into, under seats, under front deck, behind rear seat, it was nasty.
The hole is where it ate completely through the sheeting.

Are you working on a Merc 700?

Marc, I am working on Mark78A. What‘s kinda cool about it it is an original canyon copper color. I’m doing an original factory-correct restoration.

You ought to see what they can do to a sailboat and it's rigging..

A friend of my was a mobile marine mechanic in Florida for years, and he had stories of finding all sorts of "surprises" under the hoods of outboard motors.  Snakes, wasps, mice, bats, I'm sure there were others.

The 35 Evinrude I'm running on my Rocket had serious mouse damage when I bought it. In addition to corrosion from the pee, they'd chewed on some of the wire insulation. I've found that anti-static drier sheets seem to work rather well too.

Jpalin I’ve seen this lots those fury critters ruined a skidoo I had several years ago! Opening any intake on any engine that’s been sitting seems to always find a surprise..
They carry some disease to go along with the mess also, mask/rubber gloves always recommended… wasn’t long ago we seen a boat destroyed by them too.. im not a cat guy but almost necessary on a farm.. those high frequency devices work pretty good.

These little buggers can ruin a motor like you will not believe. A friend of mine had this motor stored on its side at another friends barn for a bit and it became a mice hotel. The cylinders are rusted shut because of mice pee. I will not kill animals, just because they happen to enter a space that I claimed for myself. So, to deter them, I use high frequency devices and mothballs to keep them away. Works like a charm.
