I guess I'm not the only one with a Finson. From the CL thread. The Vagabond in White, GA

Don’t drill more holes, use an adapter plate to mount the new one using the old holes.

Thanks. I am happy with it an feel fortunate to have found such a nice one. I could not have restored my old one for the price I paid for this one.

I have looked at the new plastic ones and figured those were my best option. I will likely get one of those and retrofit it to the original mount, or bight the bullet and drill new holes in the transom if I can't make the new work with the old.

Interestingly, the old mount is basically a clip that allowed the pitot tube to get knocked off if hit rather than getting damaged. The hinge seems a better design.

Nice looking speedo.
I just run the current plastic type, they kick up when they hit something and you can just snap them back down and nothing is broken.

Anyone else running a Finson speedo? There was one on my boat when I bought it. I found a really nice one to replace it since the lens of the original was cracked and the finish on the needle was peeling. I'm looking into pickups and was hoping to use the original transom mount. Curious what others are using for a pickup or what the original looked like.
