Ya a paint not available to Canada or at least to me, JPalin this is a huge hurtle for me finding any paint you guys have access to usually I don’t, I literally just found color and type of paint I was after. About 10 yrs ago Canada stopped certain types of paint and even stricter now.. that primer I bought you can’t get in BC now but they give you an alternative that doesn’t work lol

One thing about using paint on the bottom of a Feather Craft, going back to just unfinished Aluminum is not easy, and paint is never permanent.
Never doubt the wisdom of dumb question’s.

I used Bondrite C-IC 33 (alumiprep) to initially etch my bottom, then Bondrite M-CR 1201 (Alodine) to get my boat bottom ready for paint. I then did an epoxy primer with a 2-part acrylic enamel paint over that. Alodine is an excellent corrosion preventative and a really good surface prep for paint.
You can get the paint in aerosol cans from online paint suppliers like this: www.amazon.com/Spray-Epoxy-Primer-Paint-Aerosol/dp/B0043YP8EC

I had an email exchange with the
Wearlon
guys a while back and they sent some samples. Water based and can be applied with a roller. I might go this way as the bottom of my Vagabond is pretty ugly from a variety of repairs.

Interlux paint is one of the top choices for bottom paints. The Primecon primer is used with antifouling paints, ablative and hard. Probably used elsewhere too. Good old nasty stuff.

I can’t answer this Ray but that product has held for almost 12 years (been through Canadian weather but never in water) I plan on sanding and spraying a acrylic enamel from nymarine most likely next year…
I did use a etching primer prior to spraying underwater product… im not a painter and have read a lot about painting aluminum and the nightmares that go along with it.. one of my mistakes not knowing is paint should be applied almost immediately after etching primer unless you enjoy sanding lol obviously reading the fine print is a must on all products. the inside of my boat will stay with the grey primer but the rest will have to be sanded.. you live and you learn I suppose and didn’t ask enough questions. I am confident on etching primer and this underwater paint though as it’s still the same shape as the day I put it on!! The paint coat for final colours I cannot comment on other that what I’m going to try. hope this is somewhat clear. curtis 1957 Ranger IV

What do you put over that primer?
How long will it last? Never doubt the wisdom of dumb question’s.
