Clever solution. I'd expect that as long as there's no slop anywhere it'd work just fine.

Yeah, exactly. This is a long shaft that we’re trying to accommodate.

Yes, that makes sense. Pretty slick. So it's used when a long shaft is being used?

So the hinge allows the lower section to stay parallel to the transom, even when tilted, so tension is maintained on the cables. DidI answer in a way that makes sense?

That is different. Would have never thought of a hinge. I am trying to figure out what way the hinge will end up moving? Will it go to the front or will it get tucked under And put tension on the cable?

Clever idea for sure.

You're right - it's smooth and easy to steer. And we've run and tilt up and down. So far, so good. I'm hopeful. He's been out there whittling for weeks, so it would be good to not have to do-over.

I'm guessing you can tell a lot by turning back and forth as is.

We are still probably some weeks from splash down BUT will be glad to report back. This one is pretty heavy duty 316 SS with bearings in the hinge but Paul has since found a heavier one we might switch it out for.

I am very curious to hear how well the hinged steering arm works.
I always wanted to try it.

Well. Version 1 is approaching readiness. I'm going to trust the engineer on this one. The ropes are FPO (aka placeholders).
