Hopefully your friend starts a restoration thread here on the site to document everything.

Thanks to all.
This has been the most generous group of folks with info and respect.
I sold the Rocket to a guy that was a mutual friend with my buddy who passed away. I feel confident that he will do it right.  I wasn't looking to make a killing, just wanted it to go  to a good home.
... Now I'll need to buy a tee shirt before the ink is dry and I still own a FeatherCraft. lol
                                                                   Again ,Thank you. Will

The front cockpit on the 1957 & 1958 Rockets are identical in size to the 1956 Rocket, the difference is the step through seat back in the later Rockets just gives less seat back to lean against and keeps you from being comfortable sitting in the middle.

Because of its uniqueness the 56 has a large following and tends to command a bigger price tag.  The 4 seater rocket, rocket II and the earlier Deluxe Runnabouts are less expensive. I find the 56 to be a narrow and skinny crowded cockpit.  I put 4 in my DR but the rest of my family is a bunch of skinny minis.  They really can only handle 2 even with 4 seats.  Yours looks to be missing the seating which would take a lot of effort and skill to replicate.  A bare hull needing seats, locked up motor and average trailer is not all that valuable but prices are creeping up.  The Facebook generation is discovering that vintage boating is a fun, cool throwback that is so far still cheap fun.

That is a 1956 Golden Rocket, a one year only design.

The photo that VinTin post earlier in this thread is what your boat should look like.

I'm not sure what this boat is supposed to look like.  Does anyone have a picture of a completed one?
This boat was in a storage container from 1998 until 2018. Then left in the backyard uncovered. I got it last year and cleaned it up the best I could. Then threw a tarp over it. The last registration was from 1999.
The motor has been in my garage where it has not gotten to the top of the project list.
The trailer it is on, is from a different boat.

Your boat is a 1958 Rocket Runabout.
