Q; Would lack of rear corner braces compromise the strength of the transom with the other bracing modifications that were added? Could the braces be routed out to fit the thicker transom if the braces are still available?
My guess is the the corner braces would not fit on with the added 3/8" or so aluminum plate that covers the whole outer transom.
I had a rear steer 56 Vag that I sold last year with a 45hp Merc-had it,for several years and lots of cruising. Plenty of room and fast; 32.5 mph gps with me only. Rear steer means let wetted surface-speed. Problem was no forward visibility til it got on plane-and got on plane quick...sorry fisherman on the TN River-didn’t see you til I got on plane...seriously...c

Marc, it's a rear steer. Have not seen a good picture of the front seat. It does appear to have a lot of room. I like the longer mid section that I have seen on a couple '53s.
I would think with the longer mid section something else would look shorter but everything looks longer in the pictures, bow, cockpits.
