Here is the Taylor on my 58 Vagabond. Sun out weighs wind drag in Florida during the summer. I have a chris-craft without a top and it is a killer in the summer. The Vagabond will sport a small top which will come in handy for rain and sun.

My opinion is to each his own, but if you want shielded from the wind get the single piece. If you like the sporty look get the two piece. For me, the single larger windshield on a Vag.

I like the look,of the shorter windshield even though not actually vintage correct, it LOOK more vintage. You can check the catalogues for pics of your boat year and model. Btw my lowere 2 piece windshield can be lifted to allow air to flow into the driver on warmer days, and can be removed completely on those hot days-gives me a lot of options..

Nothing is to much trouble on your boat if it will make you happy. If you want to have the option to get out of the sun, then do it.

Thanks for the windshield comments.
I guess a follow-up question would be if anyone has had much success with adding a small sun canopy to the Taylor Made type. I like my low profile windshield but since I have the Taylor Made in the garage I could easily swap out for some sun protection this summer. Jus not sure if it's worth the trouble. I think most of the earlier vagabonds had the 2 piece. I definitely prefer that look. It’s low and classic. No windshield is cool as well. I've had all 3 types. One where two pieces of windshield glass met at the center bracket. My 55 came with the 3 brackets with one piece of plexiglass.

There is a middle ground that more than a few of us are running, the Taylor style windshield but lower cut so that you are actually looking over the windshield and not through it, it still knocks the wind off and you can still get down behind it if it rains but you don’t have to look through it and it does not have as much wind drag as the higher windshield.
Any windshield is a drag on speed, if certain people keep on gaining speed I may have to take my windshield off ![]() Proud Owner of 1956 Vagabond, 1950 Flyer, 1956 Rocket, Co-owner 1952 Flash, 10-1/2 less than VinTin
