Well Dano, I've been procrastinating about pulling the old seal. I'm HOPING and planning on pulling it this weekend using a a couple of sheet metal screws and a slide hammer or prying device. Fwiw, any and all boat related time has been put into my Vagabond II project which is sooooo very close to being ready for a lake test. Thanks for asking and stay tuned.
Good catch, John, as usual. I meant to type 35 hp not 40.
As for Dan's comment, witty as ever. . I'm going to see if O'Reilly Auto has a loaner seal puller that'll work. If not, I'll go with the drywall or sheet metal screw method.
Thanks for the responses. Really.
I discovered today that the top crank seal on my '57 Evinrude 40 is leaking. I figured I'd find the necessary seal puller OMC p/n 387780 on eBay but no such luck. So, does anyone have the seal puller I need? If so, can I borrow it? PM me and we'll determine the best path forward. Thanks!
