Windshield brackets 29 Jul 2020 03:31 #106496

New Windshield installed.

Thanks, Bruce and Jabe too. I filled and painted them and went with a metalized paint. I'm pleased.

Here is the before and 2 afters.

I have a center bracket like that Dogleg style. I'm thinking of making a lower clip that just holds the bottom.

I'm going for a shorter windshield.

Very nice job Kmotawi
I was not very pleased the way the casting came out and have been sanding them to try to save them but the porosities keep coming out , I tried filling them with low temp aluminum rod but when it is sanded out the fill is a different colour
I think Kmotawi has the right idea
I was thinking that the centre post that I make for the dog leg style windshield brackets could be used for a centre bracket and have a flat piece of glass

Email Bruce at bruceter00@gmail.com about the brackets.

I'm working on mine. The castings were a bit rough, Bruce warned me. I have sanded them down with 80 then 120. I then filled some voids and also the groves.

I then sanded that out and primed them and sanded them with 600. One more round off a filler and sanding I think. Then a brushed metal paint. I'll post the results in a few days.

Wow - I really like those brackets. Anyone have a spare set they would sell? (I can make a center support).
