I figure about 24 mph. $300 is a good price for a running MK30 so I’d buy it. However, I don’t think that’s the best choice for a Vagabond. The MK30 is a 30 hp powerhead on a 20 hp lower unit so it can’t take too much abuse. There aren’t many prop options either.

As a datapoint, dmtilley has a 55 Vag with a 25HP 4-stroke Suzuki on it with PTT. It goes 27-28 MPH when properly trimmed.

Anybody know how fast a '55 Vagabond would go with a '58 Merc Mark 30? Guy at work has a running Mark 30 that he wants $300 for... Can't decide...Seems like it might be on the slow side...

Hey Rob, Mabe I owe you an apology. I guess it is possible that you have three 1960s Larks, a 1962, 1963 and a 1964.

I noticed in the loose rivet section you mentioned that you have a 1963 Lark. I guess I'll have to tell you again today that your motor is a 1962 Lark.
