started working on the 3 knee braces.....cleaned up the floor and transom in and out........she is what she is, lots of pitting .....
got the braces sorted out for location, got the front original rivet hole of each lined up with their matching stringer......but........either the stringers grew or the boat shrank......they will not lay down to match the remaining rivet holes........the transom edge of each brace hits at the top against the transom and thats not even allowing space for the "T" cleat room for mounting........
i mounted a straight edge along the back......there is a slight roll too the transom but not enough for what is required for each brace too lay down even with the stringers.......am i not seeing something here........thinking i will need too trim each brace too the "T" transom cleat once mounted........but why, has me scratchin.....

well.......as of now, my jig saw......i can control the speed to avoid binding......i tried an old scroll saw i have but it runs too fast and the heat melts the aluminum too the back of the blade and becomes wider than the kerf, causing binding in the cut, and out of control chatter.....after cuttng i grab a beer and a file and clean up the edges while catching up on whats going on, on the site.........the design inside, i wrap the whole thing in duct tape, and with an exato knife cut out the tape, then soak it in a mix of 50/50, muratic acid/water......for about 3-4 minutes........wash and clean up the glue with acetone and carb cleaner..........
