10.375 x 14" pitch is the factory prop usually and that is what you should shoot for.

Or a 10.375 x 13.25, depending on rpm at full throttle. Max rpm is 5,000 and that is what you should shoot for at full throttle and the lightest load the boat will carry.

You should get to 28, 29 or even 30mph.

You may be over reving that 40 with the brass prop. I bet it's a 12" pitch or lower.

Would be good for towing someone though.

Make sure the foot oil is good. It is probably a good idea to change it.

Just came back from a maiden voyage in a 1956 Ranger 3 of a 1965 40 horse Evinrude. Prop is a bronze 4 blade, ran 25 with surprising launch. Can anyone recommend where to find a prop chatt? I hope to get a little more out of her.

Jabe,,I just read the whole thread..Very good. The boat turned out Bitchin ! I like Everything about it. The windshield is the best I have seen to date. Even some technocraft mods. Perfect ! Lots of nice original boats out there. But nothing beats kneading one of these to their best esthetic pinnacle . Nice job ,,Perfect finish. Take a break.. ;)
