Here are the stringers ready to test fit and see what it’s going to take to make the bottom match the original profile.

A quick visual look at one of the stringers in place, the bottom right now is nearly completely flat so the stringer is not in place up under the bow where the bottom has a pretty good rise.

Once the bottom is pushed back into place this piece will be down touching the bottom.

Once the stringers were rough cut, I drilled the upper rivet holes and clecoed them together and clamped them on the old stringers to use as guides to finish the bottom cuts, these cuts are critical because they are what produces the shape of the bottom. There is 30” of straight flat bottom at the back then a pretty sudden rise.

I used a hand file to finish the stringers down to match the original

You can see I made the flanges a good bit wider.

My last report showed the flush patch, I need lessons from Mark on how to do that without distorting the skin, we ended up with a pretty good dip in the bottom at the patch. I jacked it out then hammered it the rest of the way flat. It does not show up in photos but it was sure there. I think I may put too much pressure on the gun, or maybe that’s the result of so many rivets in such a small area.

Anyway, the bottom is pretty much finished as far as the skin goes but not structurally. Here is the broken center stringer, this started the whole busted up bottom thing you can see and some of the leftover weld that had been attempted to patch a bigger problem.
The other side, these are laying in the replacement pieces to mark where they need to be cut.

When Dana and I first got married, I built a1967 Harley Davidson ElectraGlide in our bedroom in a 1 bedroom apartment. Parked it in the breakfast nook after it was finished while riding daily.
I think I have lost some influence since then, but not completely, her car is sitting outside of a garage that has the Flash and all my machinery in it B)

These are great, but if it's not tooo much trouble, whenever you can, I need shots of where the seat attaches to the floor and shots of the corners of the dash would be great too

I'll get more photos tomorrow.

No trouble at all.
