Ray, that looks a ton better! Are you thinking you'll need to do some seam sealing too?

Ray,
It warms my heart to see the time and work you are putting into these old boats. Not many people would be willing to expend their time and talents in an effort to save these great Feather Crafts. My hat is off to you, Sir.

This Flyer has one single stringer and four transverse ribs that are also the seat supports.

At the end or outside edge of each rib was a large dent that I believe was produced by the bottom slamming upwards once the center support of the stringer and the seat back was destroyed and/or removed.

I really think the boat was subjected to being used as a sled or maybe pulled behind a tractor or pickup through a field due to the type of damage the boat has on both the bottom and the sides.

I initially planned to not attempt repairing all these dents and just rebuild the boat structurally and keep the boat as found, a survivor of the 65 years of use and abuse, , , , until I filled the boat with water to check for leaks, the seams down both sides just poured so that idea went out the window.
The starboard side went fairly well, the ends of the ribs cooperated more or less and were heated and beat back into shape. A number of rivets required replacing and more will need to be yet. The big dent on that side came out OK as well.

Ray previously mentioned........"My last report showed the flush patch, I need lessons from Mark on how to do that without distorting the skin, we ended up with a pretty good dip in the bottom at the patch. I jacked it out then hammered it the rest of the way flat. It does not show up in photos but it was sure there. I think I may put too much pressure on the gun, or maybe that’s the result of so many rivets in such a small area.".........

yikes i would think 75 rivets all in one spot would distort the Titanic, looks great from this side of the screen.......thanks for sharing all your talant...........and Dan too, for giving you the space to not have to dine on your working model........pics are great things........cheers, keep "em" coming.....
