The short midsection on Ebay may or may not fit the Mark 78, the early big six motors are quite unique.

I did ask him and he verified that the crankshaft and powerhead were interchangeable between the two.

Cool. Thanks everybody. I'll see if I can figure out how to do the thread thing.  I'll also bite the bullet on the short lower on flea bay.

Stink, you should start a resto thread so you can have all your work in your own thread.

I am looking forward to seeing another Clipper come back to life, that's for sure.

The 78A should be a good fit for the  Clipper. Yes that's a short shaft transom. The original wood was something like 5.75" wide boards, that's why I think you are seeing bunch of holes.  The boards went pretty far across, the boat was made for two motors if wanted.

Lots of extra holes. Not worried though. Got a Spoolgun for aluminum I haven’t even tried yet. Finally get to use the gas tank.

Ok. 78A is coming via FedSex for a very reasonable 360 bones. I go pick it up from the terminal 10 minutes from where I work.

I also got to put my first two hours into the Clipper  today too. I pressure washed 3/32 of FlexSeal off the transom.

I got on the Fasenall site. They have a service called Blue Lane for freight. It won't work for me for this engine though because they will not ship anything between they're West and East divisions.

Years ago I had two fenders shipped shrink wrapped together by the seller in the luggage hold of a Greyhound bus from Washington State to Atlanta.  I just had to get them at the terminal downtown.
