Yeah, about the lawn...

I have managed to avoid this on subsequent cleanings by soaking the area really well before and after.  A similar but slightly milder stuff is Meguiar's chrome wheel cleaner, the kind in the red bottle. It's active ingredient is phosphoric acid too. Both do an excellent job of making the aluminum look factory fresh. And yes, rinse, rinse, rinse. I use a pressure washer to be sure to get it all off.

Rick We had a little rain today and oly looked at it and decided to pull out the floatation and give her a good washing sunday or monday I used crud cutter in 2012 but i think the formula changed. I will try the Napa stuff this time but don't want to kill my lawn. (Rinse Rinse Rinse I hear).

I don't know why i can not login so I made a new user name close to what I originally used in May of 2012..

Steve updated the forum to a different platform since then. All should be well now with your new account. Some NAPA aluminum brightener would make that boat look like new.

James, Congratulations on a new old boat!!  That didn't take long at all, Nice!  The boat looks to be in in really good shape too. I bet you are super excited. I would start a restoration thread so you can document all your work too. Looks like a few of your pictures did not come through.  Try posting them again so we can get a better look.
  Is the boat water ready?
Is that a 20-25 HP motor?

Anyway, good luck and have fun with bringing back old memories! Looks like a really good find.
