I may be wrong but I think it was made in 56 for the 57 year model R - 111 -176 -567 that's why it has the 567 at the end of the H.I.N. number

As far as I understand, the only 56 FC that was anodized was the 56 Golden Rocket.

Hi Dan, Your pictures reveal a striking similarity to my Ranger. I also noticed the drain plug location in the floor at the same location and the bow handle is of the same vintage so I am thinking 57.

]You guys make Indiana Jones look like an amateur. A few minutes of scraping in exactly the predicted spot resulted in clear numbers. R III 12 176 567. I'll get better pictures of the bow handle tomorrow after work, but I think it's the ' 57 style loop.
Thanks Again! Dan

It looks very much like my 56 Ranger, except the storage area behind the second seat is arranged differently and I have two vertical transom supports. I copied your picture and circled where my identification is stamped.
Also a picture of my ID. Yours looks to be very solid!

Hi Dan and welcome. I agree with Jabe, 56 or 57. I have the 57 and see many similarities.
Lots of great help to be found here on the forum. Post lots of pictures with you questions. Sean. 1957 Ranger 111; 1958 Johnsons; 5.5, 7.5, 10 [x2], 18, 35 Super Seahorse Super Quiet, 1957 Johnson 35 Golden Javelin, 1954 Johnson 5.5, 1960's Johnson 3 [x3]

welcome.............my guess by the style of your bow handle, it is a '57 .........Ranger111...........looks in great shape, only thing i see missing is the starboard rear storage box and parts of the port side as well..........windsheilds were an option from the dealers, not from the manufacture........enjoy and again welcome.........

Hello -
I am writing because the serial number on my recently purchased Feathercraft has been painted over, along with most of the hull. Not a bad job of it, but past experience finding a serial number on an unpainted transom leaves little hope for reading this one. Following some much needed advice on where to start (Thanks Steve!), the search narrowed to the 56-57 catalogs; a tape measure puts the boat in the 14 foot range, eliminating the 15 foot Vagabond. After that, though, the distinctions between Ranger models are still uncertain. This boat apparently had a windshield, while most Rangers are shown without. Blue anodizing inside the hull is faded but uniform, showing no sign of repair or patching. Why the outside was painted I can't say, but it may have just been faded from the Colorado sun. Seats are covered with what looks like school bus upholstery material. Most hardware (cleats, pulleys, fasteners) looks original. Facts, opinions, or just plain hearsay are welcome. It's not like I could know any less... Thanks in Advance, Dan Larson Thank You, Dan Larson
