Lee, I don't know if you were there when I bought the boat, but it's sure different and I love that small boat. My guess is that it was a sales/dealer sample. Very cool.

Owner had died, was an estate auction. While at the DMV checking on the title to a Volvo that I'd also bought, had them check the numbers still on the boat, came up 1950 Studebaker Mfg Vio Holda, Topeka Kansas.

Boy, am I glad you bought this one! I thought that I was going to have to buy it just so it didn't inadvertently end up at the recyclers. I just don't have room. Back in 2013 I was sent these photos of a small (41" overall length and a 13" beam) from someone looking for information. They thought that maybe it was a toy, but it seemed way to detailed for a toy. I was thinking that perhaps it was a patent model, but at that time I hadn't seen anything like it. When I saw your boat on the "list" it kind of blew me away. This miniature was imprinted "Little Marvel" across the deck. Yours appears to be a perfect match. I have serious doubts about the Studebaker connection. What do you think, does this fit into the equation? And what is the Studebaker thing about? Did the previous owner have any idea?

Brought home this 1950 12ft studebaker boat. It has diamond plate side aluminum.
