Neither one, Rob. I got the senior based on the bike earning a 95 point or higher score.

John, did you get the Senior Award because of your age or the bikes ?

Great restore John and congratulations on the first win, many more will follow I’m sure.
100/100 is not a easy occomplishment! Ive only seen a Harley Hummer at museums or at our local dealer, Brandt’s Harley Davidson thats has been in business since 1949. In their showroom they have multiple different older models that they display on rotation which is really like a museum. I love the look and feel of the older machines. Who knows when you get to be in your nineties that might get to be your main ride. 1955 Vagabond

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I have to take it to to two more meets for judging to earn the highest award. Once that is done I have another Harley that I just finished restoring this spring that I will start having judged. It is a 1963 Harley Pacer.

Restoring a bike is like restoring one of these boats, if you’re doing it with the idea that the monetary cost and time invested should be less than the monetary value of the finished product then you are not allocating any value to the personal satisfaction gained from the project. If you don’t value that satisfaction then you shouldn’t even consider the project, you’re not the right person for the job.

Ray,
I bought the bike in April of 1993. I finished it in the Spring of 2020. Much of that time I was looking for parts and not doing anything. I got serious with the restoration in 1999. I bought the bike as a basket case for $100.00. It was missing all the sheet metal as well as head light, tail light, horn and lots of other small parts. The engine was stuck and missing both side covers as well as a lot of other parts. I've got more money in it than it is worth. I don't know why it was voted most unique by all the judges but for some reason they thought it was. Maybe because it was the only Harley lightweight bike on the judging field and it's condition. I was totally surprised they selected my bike as Most Unique. John

Beautiful bike John, how long did the restoration take?
What makes it the most unique bike in the field? A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.
