This will change everything! All started with the G4 gunboat. Beautiful and it looks like a lot of crew coordination...
what type of actuators are used to deploy those foil booms ? Compressed air ? Too rapid for electric. I would think that would be a game breaker using an electric power source ??? More to learn..Yesterday was a huge leap forward for space travel too.
Amazing video,,I had not seen that telemetry. I only assumed gimbaled mains were being used. This is huge,,It's as if three stages are in one,,As the gross vehicle weight decreases from fuel consumption,,they destage the engines and realign the centerline of thrust..I don't think anything had ever been executed like this in history..A huge [why didn't we think of this before] ? Umm,,because this is entrepreneurism.....Historical . Great things happening despite all the BS..
The hydrofoils are going big in the action water sports biz. My twin brother has been a pioneer in the field of making 'affordable' hydrofoils for the last few years for the company Liquid Force.
Extruded aluminum masts and fuselages with plastic or carbon fiber wings. The wing efficiency has gone crazy. People are surfing waves with hydrofoil and the newest is hand-held wings. It's like windsurfing without the mast and boom with a very shortboard.
They can fly at speeds of under 5 mph!
I've had thoughts of mounting a few on a very small boat, maybe a motorized canoe. Like the warship plainview.
Absolutely incredible. I remember the commotion that was caused
When the winged keel was first used on the Americas Cup back in the 80s. Always preferred the classic AC hulls but these new vessels are amazing.
So in case you don't keep up with the high dollar end of the sailing world...check this out. Unreal. My aerospace engineer son keeps telling me to find a set of the Grumman hydrofoils and put the on the Vagabond. Ray are you in??
