I can't wait for the day we actually reach the moon and find out that it isn't made of cheese, but is, in deed, FLAT!

6 months old in July '69... I don't remember Apollo 11 but growing up in Orlando, 50 miles away, the space program was an integral part of growing up. Many friends' dads were "rocket scientists" working for Martin Marietta and we could often see rocket launches from our yards. By the 80's it had come to seem rather routine and I am grateful to my teacher, Mr. Martens who emphasized that every one of these missions was a technological miracle and made us go outside to watch shuttle launches; seeing the Challenger catastrophe was unforgettable and proved the wisdom of his words.

I was 13 years old. We were, well, where else? We were at the lake. Lake Hopatcong N.J. I watched it on an old black and white TV.

50 years ago, I was disembarking in Nassau Bahamas with my folks. We had bareboat chartered a sailboat for a week and just checked into a hotel. Turned the TV on, black and white, and there they were, landing on the moon....!!!

When JFK was shot, I was 10, walking home from school when someone said the President was dead. The kid I was with said "I'm glad he's dead". Couldn't believe he said that then, nor can I believe it today.

You are right, Mark. Some amazing history we have lived thru....

There is a great aviation & aerospace museum in Kalamazoo, Michigan that has a F-1 engine on display. I will never forget the experience of standing just under it and grasping the sheer size of it! Unbelievable... it is a great museum that has a lot of interactive activities, simulators and rides intermingled with the displays. 1st class museum

Unbelievable moment! After working the night shift at the B-52 base in Thailand, I was asleep. The lady who maintained our rooms woke me and convinced me to follow her (she spoke no english) to another room where there was a TV. Together we watched Armstrong on the moon. Unbelievable moment! I am glad she woke me and I wonder where she is today.

It was a breathtaking moment that I will never forget, it made me believe totally in the progression of science and the ability of man to overcome all obstacles. I still believe that today.
