They can grind it up but it’s not cheap.

No Ray I'm not going to do it myself. My brother actually cut more than I was planning when I wasn't looking. I have a second estimate that does include hauling it off and is half of the first quote. Insurance coverage requires the tree to be on the house and even then I have a $2,500. hurricane deductible. Not on the house they might pay $500. The root ball may be the toughest part.

Are you going to do it yourself? I couldn’t and wouldn’t have tried it. Will insurance kick in anything?
I hit the Daytona Turkey Rod Run for a few years, quite a party, amazing cars everywhere! Never doubt the wisdom of dumb question’s.

Spent the last ten days in the woods. Got a lot done! Cleared the driveway, canal and did what we could at ground level on the mighty oak. Power company did route the power line to the house back through the tree. They will have to come back. The first professional tree company quoted $7,000. and that did not include hauling it away.
I did squeeze in some fun with a day at an outboard meet and another day at the Turkey Rod Run at the Daytona International Speedway.

We've had a little rain and the pecan are dropping!
....and Wascal, our cat. This tree yields small pecans and they are not 'paper shell' like a good grafted variety would bear. Kind of a tough nut to crack, if you get my drift.

Joe what you saw was a turkey mating ritual. Good thing you got out of there. They were trying to draw you in!
