Agreed sewing really isn’t too hard it’s something everyone should learn the basics in their youth, I pretend to forget how though.. not done upholstery but probably just bigger needle/thread lol. At that price it’s certainly worth a try

I think it would be fun to learn how to sew, it's probably about as hard as forming aluminum sheet. You could screw up and start over several times for $1200. Al did it, he made his upholstery. It would be a good winter project.

We used our Vagabond about 15 years sitting on boat throw cushions, it was just as much fun then as it is now with real upholstery!

Luckily there is a foam store close to me that actually sells closed cell foam and it’s about $180 2-4" foam (I’m doing bolstering on the sides). I’d say my material cost with the vinyl (Naugahyde) is about $370. I’m gonna attempt to do it myself if I don’t get good pricing.

that’s too bad this happened I’ve found that some of the shops around here are like that too. A handshake is starting to be nothing?? I was pricing upholstery out and for the two bench seats anyone close to me is quoting 2000$ for what I want I’m certainly struggling with that number. I priced out the foam I want “closed cell” that is comfortable is going to run me just under 800$ I didn’t get in material much but it was 5-7$ a foot out of Ontario so the magic shipping cost would be there too.
I may just have to sit on a life jacket lol.
hope you find someone reasonable to help you! Making ourselves seems to be expensive too..

I unfortunately have nothing to show. I had an issue with the vendor trying to charge me more and more and eventually deciding to just go and pick up my boat.

The budget started out at $500 with me providing for some materials including vinyl. Then he estimated me $1200 when he saw my boat. We then agreed on $700. Then yesterday he told me I needed to pay about an extra $200 for foam. I told him I’d give him $800 max and he declined that offer and told me to come get my boat.

Little advice for all of you: Get your estimate upfront in writing and don’t rely on a gentleman's handshake.

That's a great-looking mirror!  I have the same mirror on my DR, and think it's an elegant match for Feathercraft boats.  I had some holes in my deck that didn't match the mirror, so I made a small "transfer plate" of 1/8" aluminum and drilled holes to match the existing holes in my deck, and another set of holes to mount the mirror to the plate.  The curved mirror broke loose from the ball mount on my mirror, so I fabricated a larger plate to attach the ball mount to the back of the mirror, and I attached that plate to the mirror using double-sided 3M foam tape.  It's held up very well for about 3 years now, feels like it will last forever.

Alright, I now have the ski mirror I got from Rick refinished and installed. I used 3M heavy duty double sided tape to attach it as I really did not want to drill more holes in this deck.
