Alright, I have the windshield project done. I did not want the channel to stand out too much and make it look like it was part of the boat. So I ended up painting the carbon with an aluminum paint that looks pretty close to my scotch bright pad finish on the rest of my details.

The 3030 green edge plexiglass Rick suggested is perfect I think.

Impressive JP.  So, you going to clear it for the high tech carbon fiber look or paint it gold to match the wheel, motor and controls?
I’m not sure yet. I was thinking just nude polished carbon, but now you’re making me think gold or silver may be nice.

Thanks Ray, I have decided to go with a more rigid frame method.
I’m making a carbon fiber rigid frame:
1. I lay down clear packing tape as a protector for the deck
2. Lay up 1x play fiberglass to act as a buffer between the aluminum and the carbon + carbon to get a strip that exactly matches the aluminum.
3. Put in the correctly shaped windshield taping the bottom edge with several layers of duck take as a spaces and mold release
4. Lay up several layers of carbon fiber to make a flange
5. Trim and finish

The whole idea is not to drill any holes and to bond the frame to the boat and windshield with silicone. I have enough play in the frame to allow for the thermal expansion  of the plexiglass.

Here are some pictures of the process:

Hey Jacque,

I have enough leftover windshield gasket to do your windshield, if you buy a package of it you will have half leftover, come and get it if you want it.
