Maureen and I stayed at the Quality Inn in Chiefland also and would not stay there again.

Why don't we start over in the Astor/ Palatka/ Sanford area like we've done before?

Scoot is already over that way and it's on John F's way down from his sister's place.  

It seems the hurricane messed up the west coast pretty badly. 

Rob and I and Charlie stayed at Days Inn in Chiefland last March. It was not very nice.

The last information I have from the FL chapter AOMCI.

"As previously reported, Yellow Jacket Campgrounds fared fairly well through the hurricane. As of yesterday, Bill’s Fish Camp and Salt Creek Restaurant had no power or internet. When the surge came in, it took Salt Creek’s water side windows & docks. Upon retreat the surge then took out the road side windows and returned the remains of the docks. Bill’s was flooded except two rooms."

And Bill's Fish Camp is in Suwannee, FL almost to the Gulf.

We have stayed at Bill's Fish Camp in Suwannee numerous times.  There is a Quality Inn and Day's Inn in Chiefland I believe.

Breakfast is available at the local marina in Suwannee and Dinner at Salt Life.  Not sure about the status of any of those places after the last hurricane beat the area up a bit.

I'll try to call Bill's tomorrow.

Not ready to commit to Suwannee Gables at this point. Renovation has not been completed for all rooms and the rate for renovated rooms is $179./night. Non renovated rooms are $135./night.
Rob and I will continue to search the area.
I will be checking out cabins on Lake Harris for the last part of the week.
