The decision about a bimini probably has a lot to do with the amount of time one spends in their boat and the Latitude in which they do that.

My upholstery lady just made me a beautiful top for my Clipper based on an original.

The SkiBo came with one of those and still have it.
Replaced it with the highrise bimini.
I found it's too hot to use as a sunshade because there's no airflow
But, they work perfect if you're caught in the rain.

Yeah Terry I'm concerned about that. We discussed putting vents in it next season once we try it out. It folds nicely behind the windshield and out of the way. If I can modify a Bimini to do that we may go that route. Thanks for the heads up.

The bottom line on tops or topless is there is no nirvana, topless you're baked by the sun, Bimini's are not sleek and attractive, and the "convertible" styles are more attractive but are very hot and anything above the deck like a windshield or a top will knock off MPH and MPG ;-)

Yeah, I have to say that I much prefer this style too ...more like a convertible top.  Looks great john! Your upholstery lady does great work.

JR, your top does look awesome. But you have to admit, that's a whole different animal than the ones that don't attach to the windshield frame and stick up about 5 feet in the air.

JR, your top looks awesome! Just like it would have come from the dealer.

I used to think it was blasphemy to have a windshield on a motorcycle, but now I've got one! I planning to put a windshield and a top on my Vagabond but I'm going to leave my Rocket the way it is.

All the ones without tops are perfect!

I get where you're coming from Ray, I really do. I've been boating for over 50 years as well and the old body just isn't quite what it used to be. Also keep in mind that here in western New York, the temps aren't like yours and we certainly don't see the sun as much as you guys.

I hope you guys don't take my comments too seriously. I agree, to each their own and I do understand the reasons why you would have them. It's a little bit like the windshield/no windshield discussions. Looks and comfort play into it. With biminis, you're also accounting for health benefits and the comfort factor is much more in play.
