Where the wheels really come off the backing a trailer thing for me is when the trailer is empty, and by the time it appears in a mirror it's already gone all kinds of wrong.

Hey Mark, dont think of it as 42yrs of useless information, more like 42 yrs of historical knowledge that only a few will ever know and thousands who never will........you hold the key, and by sharing your knowledge has and always will inspire others.........cheers to your retirement, enjoy it, dont fret it........your turn to do for Mark........

Mark, When I retired it felt really different not having to get up at the crack of dawn for work, but I sure don't miss the rat race.

Working Flight test on the A-10 ,, I soon realized what a rugged and simple aircraft it was..The design was brilliant . It was a WWII aircraft with a Big gun and jet engines. Hell, it didn't even have tactical radar. It only had RWR ,,,look it up. Although the aircraft had hydraulic flight control systems ,,it did not have CAS. Control augmented systems,,,IE fly by wire. If hydraulics were lost it reverted to a push/pull rod manual activation of the flight controls. Brute muscle. The F-15 was a control augmented system.. If at any time it lost it's fly by wire , it reverted to AFCS..Augmented Flight Control system . It took pilot manual inputs and augmented the inputs with mechanical amplification boost to the manual reversion.. Both aircraft were and are the best of what they did. I was very fortunate to be involved in military aviation when I was. It was a grand time.. I was thinking,,so when I retire next month,,the 42 yrs of aviation knowledge will suddenly become useless information....I think it happens to all of us at the end of our careers. It's a melancholy event........:(

Im fascinated with the degree of reality they can do through animation. Old planes in a fake flight, but it gets my curiosity going!
I was told theres a video game that you can fly your plane over your own town through some computer feature, and google earth!
Amazing.

JR I have heard the story before,,but not so well as he told it..Funny thing,,he just doesn't sound like any fighter jock I ever met . :P I never went over Mach 1.2. It just burned too much fuel . Although we did do Viking departures in the F-15. We were the only plane that I know of that could request it. We rotated at 50,000 ft/min. We could accelerate faster than the Saturn 5 to 100,000 ft. Anyone hear of the POS f22 or f35 claiming any records ??

Carol,,why the CG fighters ??
